The Impact of Client Violence and Job Satisfaction on Turnover Intention of Social Workers: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of the Perceived Human Rights

    Abstract

    This study aims to examine whether client violence as well as job satisfaction of social workers have an effect on turnover intention and in particular, the level of human rights perceived by social workers affect the relationship between client violence and turnover intention. Data was collected by the survey of social workers in social welfare organizations located in Seoul, Korea. For the analysis, Multiple Regression was applied using SPSS 18.0. The major findings are as follows: First, client violence and job satisfaction showed effects on turnover intention. Particularly, the level of human rights perceived by social workers had the moderate effect on the relationship between client violence and turnover intention. Based on the result, this study discussed implications for making a legal protection and sanctions, ensuring institutional measures and expanding public awareness on human rights of practitioners.
